For the time being, Parallels is good enough. However, there's still missing support for things that I absolutely need for SC such as multiple monitor support, USB-C/Thunderbolt support etc. The initial release is already here and people are quite happy with it. I am keeping an eye on Asahi Linux project, which is working on getting M1 hardware running on linux. The latest update also includes improved Windows 11 virtual machine (VM) support and stability with the introduction of Virtual Trusted. Long story short, M1 laptop is great hardware, but I am not very happy with the OS. We’re very excited to announce Parallels Desktop 17.1 Update, which now fully supports macOS Monterey as a host OS and improves the user experience when running macOS Monterey in a VM on Apple M1 Mac. So having to deal with that OS is frustrating because one of the main reasons why I migrated to Linux and now MacOS was to get away form that software platform. Also, Windows 11 is really a pain to use, at least in the VM. SC runs ok in Coherence, but if I need to launch another program on the VM that doesn't, then I have a problem. Some programs run ok in Coherence Mode (meaning each program has its own windows that MacOS desktop can manage instead of one window for the VM, where you see Windows desktop), some not. It just feels off - windows do not scale properly, for example. I don't like how Parallels integrates into MacOS desktop. In general, my issue with SC on Parallels is not that SC works badly or slowly or anything like that. I did not go for it though because I only get this message when I am downloading lots of historical data for analysis, which is not something I am going to be doing everyday. Supercharge your workflow with advanced resource management, superior security, and versatile cross-platform capabilities. Parallels Desktop Pro Edition revolutionizes the way you work by seamlessly blending the best of Mac, Windows, and Linux ecosystems. The mac I have has 32 GB so theoretically the pro version would help here. Immerse yourself in efficiency and productivity. However, it would be great if the Dial team would investigate why your software is not running on Windows 11 Pro Insider Preview on ARM when the 圆4 versions of Relux and CAD for example, run perfectly.Ivory - Posts: I am using the standard version and while SC works ok I did run into RAM issues, where the VM would tell me I need more RAM. With Parallels Desktop 17. Nor do not believe that Dialux should develop a specific version for ARM, especially when it appears the future of Windows is towards a 'One Windows' direction where Windows does the work and we, the user, don't have to wait for every dev team to create a specific version of their software for ARM, x86 or 圆4. While a native Mac version of Dialux would be amazing, I know it's not in the pipeline. Just installed latest version of parallels 17 for my M1 MBP and I am unable to install Windows 11 it keeps saying 'your pc does not meet minimum requirements.' under Windows insider program in 'settings' my current build is 21390.2025. Perhaps this is the reason that Dialux will not open in Windows 11 Pro Insider Preview on an ARM processor yet Relux performs flawlessly. But it is my understanding that there is a compatibility issue between Direct X and Metal on M1 processors that Parallels have yet to overcome. I have very limited knowledge of hardware acceleration like Direct X (Windows) and Metal (Mac). Every program I have downloaded works, including Relux and Autocad - all except Dialux. The best bit is that through some kind of emulation (magic) built in to Windows 11 Pro Insider Preview, the vast majority of native 圆4 Windows programs just work. Mac users including myself have been using VM's to run Dialux on Intel 圆4 Mac's for years. This new insider Windows build made it possible for Mac users with M1 ARM processors to once again install a full version of Windows on their Mac's using a virtual machine like Parallels. Even with the limitations, Windows 10 ARM works well with great performance and battery life. Parallel Desktop 17 for M1 Mac has been launched to run ARM-based OS in a virtual machine on M1 Macs with Apple Silicon. I believe Microsoft's vision is to eventually have just Windows, not Windows on X64, Windows on x86 and Windows on ARM. Since existing versions of Parallels do not run on the M1 Macs, a new version has been launched to run ARM-based Operating Systems. Microsoft recently (late 2021) updated Windows 11 Pro Insider Preview to natively run on ARM processors. Here is a summary of what I believe the issue is and a bit more detail from my limited understanding of the tech.
